Set up in 2000, Blue Chip Vacations is a leading force in high quality self-catering with over 750 properties across Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall, more than 500 of which are luxury 4 and 5 star rated.
This year’s South Devon Walking Festival, starting on 25 September and running through to 03 October, celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Over the course of the Festival there are a total of 33 walks to enjoy featuring wildlife, history and heritage, local food, wild food, night walks, photography walks, and much more! To mark this important anniversary festival Blue Chip Vacations has reduced dozens of its properties by 20 per cent for the week, many of which are close to the start point of the walks and cost from as little as £56 per person.
Four At the Beach apartments in Torcross on Slapton Sands are available close to two of the Festival’s main walks; the Secret Slapton Ley Sanctuary Walk on 25 September and the Slapton Timeline Walk, which takes place on 27th September. The apartments sleep between four and six and have been reduced in price by 20 per cent for seven nights over the Festival. Each is set within the former Torcross Hotel, just a matter of yards from both Slapton Ley nature reserve and the stunning 3 miles of Slapton sands.
Over the Festival seven nights in 17 At the Beach, which sleeps six, can now be booked from just £340, saving £79 and reducing the cost per person to just £56, based on six sharing.
19 At the Beach, sleeping four, can be booked from £324; 9 At the Beach, sleeping four, can be booked from £452; 4 At the Beach, sleeping six, can be booked from £452. Three nights over the festival have been reduced by 10 per cent and can now be booked from just £273.
On Sunday 26th September the Festival puts on a cross-country walk through green lanes and over hills exploring Tuckenhay, Cornworthy, the creek and the countryside in between. During the four mile walk a Medieval priory, papermaking mill, lime kilns and churches will be visited en-route as the area’s surprising industrial past is revealed. The Countryside, Creeks, Communities & Industrial Mysteries walk starts at the Malsters Arms in Tuckenhay.
Close by Blue Chip Vacations has a beautiful creek-side property that’s perfect as a base during the festival, especially if you enjoy ornithology and quiet riverside living.
The Old Cider Press is a beautifully converted four bedroom house that sleeps eight. Situated within yards of the River Dart its living rooms and bedrooms possess spectacular views overlooking Bow Creek where Kingfishers, Herons and Egyptian Geese can be spotted alongside many other species.
The Old Cider Press has its own private slipway, patio with barbeque area and parking for 3 vehicles. Internally, the property has been sympathetically converted and immaculately finished.
Situated in Tuckenhay, a village described as Devon’s best kept secret, the property is within a short walk of two friendly traditional village pubs. It is also within 3 miles of Dartmouth from where you can take a river cruise to the historic castle town of Totnes.
The Old Cider Press is available from 25 September and has also been reduced by 20 per cent for seven nights. A week now costs £684, saving £164, reducing the cost per head to just £85 per person.
Blue Chip Vacations has a range of other properties that are perfect for the Dartmouth to Agatha Christie’s Greenway Dart Valley Trail on 25 September. These include Wild Goose House, an Edwardian, self-catering cottage situated less than a mile from Agatha Christie’s former home at Greenway. The house sleeps six and has been reduced by 20 per cent from 25 September to £452 (£75 per person), saving £106. River Cottage in Kingswear, which sleeps four and has unrestricted views along the River Dart and across to Dartmouth, is close to the start of this walk. During the festival this has been reduced by 20% to £300 (£75 per person).
